What if I Know Someone who is in the Therapy Group?

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Being in group therapy with someone you know can be uncomfortable. If you go to group and see someone you know previously attends the same group, please reach out to the group therapist to discuss it right away. It is up to you, the other participant, and your group therapist to decide how to proceed. You have the choice to stay in the group should you all agree that it is okay and comfortable to do so. However, if any of you choose that it is not okay to be in a group together, it may be possible to place you in another group. Your safety and comfort is very important; be sure to connect with your therapist if this is a concern for you in group therapy.
